Importance of Nutrition
Food Safety and Nutrition is a very important aspect of the services provided by The Sensatori Retreat. It is therefore important we provide food that is healthy, nutritious and provides our Clients with a well balanced diet.
From birth it is important that our bodies receive proper nutrition in order for it to receive the necessary vitamins and nutrients it requires for growth. As we grow we need essential vitamins to develop bones, muscles, organs and tissues. Inadequate nutrition can lead to complications, weakened immune system, learning difficulties, stunted growth and many other illnesses that can affect you both physically and physiologically.
Food is fuel and its important that you eat a healthy balanced diet for your body to work effectively and efficiently. Good nutrition can go a long way towards preventing illness and has the power to transform you health, vitality and over all well-being.
Clients are sometimes admitted in a malnourished or under-nourished state due to not eating properly when they are actively using substances, depressed or experiencing an eating disorder. Malnutrition and unhealthy diets can be linked to a wide range of chronic illnesses that can affect a person physiologically and physically. Anxiety, stress disorders, heart disease, cancer and diabetes are common side effects amongst others.
A Serenity Health part of our programme will be education around the importance of good nutrition and healthy living for optimum health.
