Creative Therapy

The process of expressing yourself artistically has been shown to help clients resolve issues as well as devolving and managing behaviours and feelings. It has also been shown to improve self-esteem and reduce stress.

The great thing about art and music therapy is you don’t need to be a talented artist to benefit. At The Sensatori Retreat we have highly trained staff that can work with you to find and explore underlying messages that are communicated subconsciously through art or music.

Creative therapy specifically through art achieves different results for different individuals. We believe that work through art can express underlying issues and ultimately provide you with a deeper understanding of yourself.

In this day and age there are so many ways to communicate and expressive therapy is often a forgotten method. What separates art therapy from other forms of communication is the lack of words or language. Often people are incapable of openly expressing themselves through language or words and as such we value art therapy as a vital tool for any recovery.

The traditional art therapies we use include painting, photography, drawing, sculpture and various other types of visual expression. Our Therapists are experts and you will slowly feel comfortable and understand how to express yourself through this type of therapy. The goal is not to create a masterpiece but to express yourself in your own way.

Art therapy has been used for decades to help improve people’s emotional state or mental well-being but is also a great method in reducing stress and tension. Many people today forget to express themselves in a visually artistic way and have simply forgotten or do not know how rewarding it can be.

We also offer music therapy which we beleive to be another great was of expressing yourself. Everyone can understand the language of music! Music therapy has been used for years now by the NHS to help patiens recover from traumatic events and as such we value it as a vital tool in recovery.
